It might just be a good weekend after all...

I came home today to find that after a 10 week back order, this had been delivered.

The garage repairing my car have also advised that after 10 weeks (not the garages fault, just parts delay and third party companies) my engine is now back in the car (not yet started though) and are hopeful to get it back to me tomorrow morning.
Fingers crossed.....

Excited doesn't even begin to describe it.
It's my first TVR, my first V8 and my first convertible.
Bought 1st March and I drove it for only 200 miles before I sent it to the garage for a service that just went from bad to worse.
10 weeks of angst and anxiety all built up and I now have to run it in for the first 1,000 miles.
Can't bloody wait to get behind the wheel....
Fingers crossed you get you car back as well.

Took me 8 days to do my 1000 miles, without doing any un-necessary journeys. Mind you, the horses were hard to fit in the boot......Can't bloody wait to get behind the wheel....

Seriously, the kind of driving you need to do is not boring pussy footing, its driving it up and down the gearbox, staying between 2000 and 4250 rpm, accelerating, using the engine, but NOT labouring it (ie no being lazy and using the torque). NO pulling away from the lights in third, or pulling from 900 revs and 20 mph in fifth. And definitely NO lunatic, eyes out, overtakes at maximum revs.
+1
How you use the engine over the next 1000 miles could make the difference between a great engine and a mediocre one. The first couple of hours are the most critical; I would do that pretty much non-stop if you can, and certainly no short journeys. Whatever you do, don't "baby" the engine during run-in. You need to give it plenty of variety of revs, within sensible limits, and you definitely want to put the engine under load (without labouring it heavily). So I'd do it on A and B roads rather than motorways, especially for the first couple of hours, and try not to get stuck in traffic jams. It's all about getting the compression to push those piston rings out against the bores to bed in properly, and you only get one chance to do it: if you do it badly you'll end up with glazed bores and you'll never get good compression and oil control.

Just back from my first proper day of having a TVR.
Even though I am restricted to 4k revs (ish), all I can say is - immense!!!!
Know what you mean - a good cam and the torque is immense.....I find myself going round hairpin bends on track days in third gear to save time..... there's so much low down torque you just don't need second (once you have run your engine in)Even though I am restricted to 4k revs (ish), all I can say is - immense!!!!
