My red '98 Chimaera already has the speed-6 headlight conversion, the wooden dash is shot so that'll be out soon, so I figured I may as well go for some more modern looking wheels to fetch the car out of the 90s (I can hear some of you cursing already!) I want a lower profile definitely.

I think these are the ones I want:

Up close:

I think they work in the gun-metal grey / charcoal / whatever colour. But full black is a bit too much, even with a black canopy:

Here are two Chimaeras, showing the original wheel next to this on I had in mind:

I welcome any opinions, advice, experiences. Many thanks!

That's my car ,16" front 17" rear You can buy the front off the shelf ,managed to get mine for around £60 each ,the rears I purchased from Demon tweaks .

You can now buy Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 without the writing around the rim .That the only thing what lets them down for me ..

Front 16" x7J offset 25

Rear 17" 8.5j offset 35

Tyres front 225/45/16 Rear 245/40/17

Got rid of the 17" front end because of the front end being a bit harsh.

I agree but each to their own. smile The only way that I would put non standard wheels on would be to get some SP12s or some Pro Race 1.2s without the engraving. Even then I would probably only use them for track days.

Wow! Hot topic!

Total newbie, so hope I haven't rubbed anyone up the wrong way by posting photos of other people's cars. Not sure what the etiquette is on that...

I want to keep the ride height and handling as close to the same as possible, but definitely want to move to a lower profile. And 12 spokes or thereabouts is the look I'm after. Something like the SP12 or the Team Dynamics is what appeals to me - I'm showing my inexperience here, but are they the same wheel?

I'm curious, SILICONEKID350HP is that set up a good 'un?

16 and 17" wheels ride better but 17 and 18" look better.. Its up to you

Ride height should be the same ,you will be compensating the larger wheel with lower profile tyres with lower profile tyres to get the same rolling circumference..
