A few times over the weekend and since, have had the fuel pump fail to prime on ign on and immobiliser disarmed. Just the pump relay thinks I, except the relay is energising fine and swapping them round has not shifted the problem to the injector circuit. So, logically, that indicates either an open circuit to the pump or the pump itself is faulty. Odd thing is, on a couple of occasions now, despite not priming, the car has started on the button and run fine so the pump must have chimed in as a result of cranking the motor... I've not had a meter handy when it's gone on the blink so am none the wiser as to whether the problem is with pump or circuit but am guessing the pump is stalling for some reason but the injectors firing as the engine turns is freeing it up. Anyone ever heard of this?

I'm assuming the pumps are not serviceable?

Swopping the relays is NOT a way to confirm either relay is OK - only a multimeter or a new serviceable relay will!!

See here: http://www.pistonheads.com/Gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Sounds like you nee to start will a level-playing-field!! Replace the two relays and then see if a pump needs refurbishment - I doubt it 8-))

Immobiliser is one of the usual suspects.....

It's not the immobiliser as the pump relay is energising...

There's a fuse inline with the fuel pump located in the loom leading from the fuse box on mine. Might be worth checking for a bad connection or faulty/ cracked fuse. Discovered this when having pulled the car out of the garage with no problem. When I went to start it to put it away had lost supply to fuel pump.

Ok, thanks, I'll get round it with a meter when I get chance - was just intrigued that it will run with no pump evident prior to starting
