Earlier on I changed the radio panel, as the veneer was badly split. It seemed like a nice easy job but now none of the lights work. All I did was to unplug the connectors, swap the switches on the the new panel and reconnect, but both the main and fog switches are dead. The fuses are OK and I'm at loss to understand what I've done wrong. The only thing I can think of is that I've reconnected the connectors the wrong way round and blown the little electronic bits on the back of the switches, but I could be wrong about that as well. Any ideas chap?

Early or late dash? (i.e. 3 black push switches for lights, or a silver dial?)

If its the later silver knob type, you can get the connection on back to front, also the clamp that holds the switch in can be compressed and touch the exposed back of the switch.

If you're on an early type dash then (from memory) there's two positive feeds to the sidelights switch and - from the switched live (out) side one feed goes to the sidelights and one goes on to the "input" side of the headlights switch so that the headlights can only be turned on if the sidelights are on.

I believe this also feeds on to the foglight switch too ... so take a permanent feed to the input side of the headlight and foglight switches to see if the switches are still OK - if they work then your problem is likely to be between the sidelight switch "output" and the headlight / foglght switch "inputs" ...
