Probably a well-answered question, but...

Usual thing about seat belts not retracting. Have twiddled with vertical positioning etc but still not great.

Came across what looks like a couple of possible mods on the S forum:

http://tvrsseries.com
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Has anyone tried these (or any other mod) in a Chim?

Alternatively, is there any reasonable support under the top mount to put the ratchet up there and do away with the right-angle bend?

Not tried it, but would be very keen on something to make the seatbelt retract, winds me right up!

If you're suggesting laying the seatbelt mechanism housing horizontally then you can't do that as the locking mechanism won't work - it'll still need to be mounted vertically.

I was going to make up some spacers to bring the seatbelt mechanism further away from the carpet, similarly I was going to make up some short bars that would bolt down to the top seatbelt mounting location and bring that top seatbelt bracket forward by an inch or two so that the whole thing is brought away from the carpet which seems to be where the system binds up on my car anyway...

I find my seat traps it - I have the seat well back, and my back on the seat makes it worse as the seat flexes backwards. Mine is much improved by the addition of a roll cage, which stops my seat back from trapping the belt, but the irritation has been replaced by the irritation of the seat back squeaking on the roll cage........ banghead

I found something last week. The inertia reel in mine was absolutely level, which means the belt drags on the edge of the reel. Spanner on bolt, 5/8 AF IIRC, one turn undone, rotate reel about 15 degrees, retighten bolt, problem solved
