I know this has been the subject of many threads before, but thought i'd get (without hours of searching) the latest views on the best clutch kit, from those who've been there and tried the different options. So, I'm still running the same clutch that was in beastie when I bought her, so assuming (yes I know mother of all feck ups) that the existing clutch is a standard 500 one, in which case its done bloody well.... I think I may be getting a bit of slip, but to be honest it's hard to tell, when booted I get a combination of loss of traction, rev counter going spastic, and a nice 'weavey' motion due, I think, to the front going light and the resultant loss of steering feel. Well that's what it feels like... So, for you big power guru's, what's the 'best' clutch for torque in excess of 350lbft and bhp a bit higher than that? Needs to cope with the forces being put through it but also ideally doesn't need quads like Schwarzenegger's smile

Thanks in advance...

This is the next one down from the paddle clutch.

AP Pressure Plate/Cover Plate: CP2394-14

Friction Plate: CP2346-4

Both will have a dob of green paint on them .

Give John Eals a call,he sells them .

No slip on mine at Santa Pod.

pressure plate differs. release bearing needs to be "adjusted" otherwise no clutch clearing....

Well mine went straight in ,used the old thrust bearing because it had only been in a few thousand miles..

Chilli,
John eales fitted this to mine, no noticeably change in pressure on the clutch pedal, John advised replacing the release bearing with the Oem bearing. Presumably you will change the pressure plate therefore a straight swap.

The system works by hydraulics so why has there not been a upgraded unit (the bit on the gear box what ever its called)

Something which reduces the pressure needed to activate the clutch.

I would recommend getting John Eales best organic plate and pressure Chilli.

Ive tried others. Helix cant take it, and the paddle clutch minced my flywheel and wasnt pleasant in day to day use.
The JE will be a little heavy under foot but works well and takes loads of abuse without slip (500+ lb/ft).

The other option is the McLeod RST which Slideways has. He loves it and its light under foot apparently. Its my choice for my next upgrade but aint cheap!

Yes if it works by Hydraulics why can`t the Slave cylinder be upgraded to drop the pedal pressure.

I have had helix, heavy and juddered. Now running the Mcleod RST as per slideways and its spot on. Downside it is the most expensive. That said its light on the pedal pressure and will handle my horsey s
