After almost 6 years of owning a 400 I have sold it to what seems like decent chap with the right attitude. I thoroughly enjoyed it but as with such cars I had my share of hassles and decided time had come for something more reliable, that I'd be happy to take out in the rain and that SWMBO would like to drive (she never got on with Trev's low seats). I'll always treasure the memories.

So I've defected and bought one of Bavaria's best, a convertible M3.

Sounds like you had a good selling experience, unlike me who's had nothing but timewasting @rseholes frown

3 years ago my son was born and I had a decision to make - sell my M3 convertible or sell my Chimaera. The M3 is the best car I have ever driven; absolutely awesome. The Chimaera however was just more fun so bye-bye M3.... Oh, and the 'kin thing kept breaking down!!! Gearbox shafted, gearbox hydraulic's shafted; glad I had a warranty!! Wouldn't get the flappy paddle box again; great when it works - eye wateringly expensive when it doesn't!!!

2004 I sold my Chimaera 450 and bought an E46 M3 convertible, nice car, great raspy engine. Then I bought the V8 coupe, fantastic car, loved it! However, I got used to the M3 because it was a daily driver, the sense of occasion started to wane. The depreciation from new was a bugger too. So, 320d Touring to get to work, carry the loads and a Chimaera 500 (and new shiny de-catted Y piece, thank you Clive) for the weekend and sunny blast to work when I feel like it, best decision I ever made.

See you in 8 years time! smile

Bought a year old 400 in 97, daughter born in 98, sold in 99 and pined thereafter. 15 years on and a further 2 kids later bought a project '97 400 end of last year ! Been on axle stands ever since slowley going through it and loving every minute. I've had motor bikes and other fast cars but there is nothing like a TVR.

Once i've got this one up to how I want it I will buy another one to tinker with as thats half the fun for me......maybe a basket case to strip back for a track car.....will keep dreaming !!!

Didn't know you could put year old daughters on Pistonheads Classifieds - gives me an idea for the next time I am stuck with the grandchildren for the weekend...idea

I'm out too, thanks for all the advice. I will be back once I've sorted out minor things like finding a house, but probably in the Griff corner. Enjoy your TVR summers. fkers.
