Winglets for a Chimaera
Discussion
I've seen this stunning example of a Chimaera here:

with nice looking winglets. Has anyone had any fitted? Any photos? Are they easy to get hold of or are they bespoke?
Thanks guys!

Yeah, they probably would. It's one of those things you live with.
I've already got the speed 6 headlight conversion and for the car just doesn't look agressive enough from the front so I was wondering how easy it was to get hold of these and how expensive they are...

I priced up the winglets and got an e-mail back from Fibreon/Damaged TVR's as I enquired about the winglets. I contacted them and received an e-mail back. I'll copy and paste the reply, bear in mind this was on the 23/3/2010. No doubt the price has went up but it will give you a rough idea.

Thanks for your enquiry and here are the answers…
1) Pair of Splitters £150.00 + Vat
2) They are bolt on
3) They are supplied in a clear Gel coat finish, sanded and ready for primer and spraying

I have to admit, other things needing done to the car have taken priority, plus I run a 3000M as well.
If you do decide to order them can you let us all know what your opinion is. I do fancy getting some myself. I think they give the Chimaera a better look at the front end.

I did look at them a while back - there was a thread on it.
Three issues - the cost, including painting, the difficulty of fitting them, and the fact that you will wipe them off on the first speed hump or country road you go over.
I went instead for re-instating the standard chin spoiler (splitter, gurney, call it what you like) underneath the car - £35, and far enough back to survive the first Nottingham pedestrian crossing hump that i didn't see in time. Power sells them IIRC. The pictured ones would have been trashed by my incompetence. It also had the desired technical effect - my bonnet no longer comes open at 135mph, nor does the passenger side rear corner flap at errr motorway speeds!!

Is the pictured item in this thread what you are referring to?http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
These winglets are purely athestic for me. I'm not going to be going anywhere at 100mph, and rarely do I go on journeys where I might touch 80mph.
We wouldn't be the only people watching out for speed bumps - how does a Sagaris owner manage?

Cannot remember the gauge of steel I got, but it was strong enough to survive crashing down onto it as I came off a raised pedestrian crossing - I saw the crossing, just not the fact that it was quite steeply raised!
To answer my own queston: I think they are just winglets. This is the original thread and here are the pictures originally posted by Jammy Dodger:

I dug out another thread seemingly from the website where the red Chimaera is shown. The user Fibre-ron who was apparently making these hasn't been around on the forums for a while...
If you look at these two pictures from that thread I think the winglets look alright if the number plate is slung low down otherwise there might be an awkward gap:

Nope I cant find any I like enough to want one, I was thinking of sc-powers griff stuff earlier.
Now this I like! Just gives that more aggressive look. Personal taste I guess.
I think this is the SC Power stuff you mean:
