Dashboard Ignition Light
Discussion
Morning All
Hopefully a very simple question - should the ignition light (the one with the battery on) always light up when you turn the key?
I seem to have 2 scenarios -
1) Start the car from cold in the morning - light comes on.
2) Drive the car, get it up to temp before stopping. If I return and start the engine 10 mins later light doesnt come on.
Is this normal? Should it always come on every time I turn the key?
Thanks.

Yes, it should always come on. You should check there is a 12 volt feed at the Alternator (the thin wire) when the car is hot. If there is, it's likely the Alternators regulator pack is going open circuit when it gets hot. If not, it may be a loose connection at the back of the bulb/wiring fault.
