Hi,

I've only got the one ignition key and, for obvious reasons, want to get a spare.

I believe the keys are as per a Vauxhall Cavalier but not sure whether they include an immobilizer chip or are just mechanical only?

If the latter, I think it's possible for me to get one cut at the local Timpson or similar? Otherwise will need to order from Vauxhall.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks.

I got mine at the local Timpson. It's just a standard key.

The key itself is just mechanical. But you need an electronic transmitter to lock and unlock the car and unset the immobiliser. This is normally in the key.
When Carl Baker changes your alarm/immobiliser, he takes your old keys, cuts out the metal bit, and carefully fits into the new key fob for the new alarm, which comes complete with transmitter. So the net keys you end up with have the old metal bit in them
I don't know how you get a second transmitter, coded to your car, but without it surely you cannot lock and unlock the car?

Abacus alarms do the transmitters and emergency immobiliser keys. The immobiliser key is a doddle to program yourself. Not sure about the remote though.
