Suspension bushes

Apologies for opening this can of worms.

I am currently doing a chassis restoration and the next step is to rebush the wishbones, the choice seems to be shore 90 (superflex blue) or shore 95 (superflex red or powerflex). The kind of driving the car will see is 'spirited' road driving but no (or very rare) track use. So obviously I am not after a bone-shaking ride.

Would it be best to go for the hardest bushes and set ride with spring rate and damping? Or should I have the compliancy in the bushes as well.

There is so little compliance in the standard bush once you have upgraded to the later thrust washer system that for what it's worth my opinion is to stay with the standard bush

Spot on. The only benefit i can see by fitting poly bushes IN THIS EXAMPLE ONLY is that they are easier to change.

I disagree .. the std bush from tvr is great and cheap, the poly bushes *assuming you fit the harder red versions not the softer purple versions* are fit and forget .. do you want a cheap temporary fix or a long lasting fix?

To those interested I have spoken to Powerflex today and their polyurethane is actually shore 80, too soft for me. So I spoke to Chris Witor at Superflex and made the order for shore 90 version after Chris said the 95 is special order and would be too hard for average road use.

If Joolz advises red superflex, you have to very sure of what you're speccing if you get anything else IMHO. Chris is very helpful, but I think Julian has better experience of these cars.
