I've fitted a decat standard Y-piece this evening. Getting the old one off and the new one on didn't take too long. However, I'm struggling getting the decat one to join exactly on the manifolds. I can get one side on, but the other is always about 2mm out, so is always blowing slightly. How do I deal with this? Do I have to loosen the manifolds again and then try and tighten the Y-piece? Do I have to seal the joins with anything?

Cheers again.

I had the same issue when refitting my Y piece - by using 2 ratchet straps 1st pulling the manifolds together and the 2nd pulling one side of the Y piece in towards the engine it allowed me to get them to meet properly.

Watched my TVR expert fitting my Clive Y piece to newly fitted manifolds on Wednesday. He just seemed to get them approx lined up, put the clamps on and then alternated tightening the clamps with tapping the clamps all the way around with a rubber hammer

Thanks for that. I think I'll have to go via the ratchet root. The manifolds are alined, but just need to pull together a bit.
