Just thinking about when the engine on the Chimaera eventually gives up, I would like to drop something different in (already done a Cosworth S).
Has anyone considered the engine from the gen 3 supercharged RangeRover? its a Jaguar AJ-V8 4.2 pushing out between 385- 395 bhp and fairly cheap/ easy to get hold of (around 3k for one fully refurbed inc supercharger). Is it a viable option?
I really dont want to go the LS route
thanks

Any reason you wouldn't want to go for an LSx? The Jag unit is nice and quite compact for a DOHC unit. But it's got to be a more costly and complex way of achieving slightly more weight and slightly less performance than an LSx would.Has anyone considered the engine from the gen 3 supercharged RangeRover? its a Jaguar AJ-V8 4.2 pushing out between 385- 395 bhp and fairly cheap/ easy to get hold of (around 3k for one fully refurbed inc supercharger). I guess the Chrysler Hemi engines could make a good swap, technically they are very capable, they are also compact and lightweight and proven to make good power. 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 litre variants. Not sure there's much experience in the UK using these though.

There was that Orange Chim a while ago, if I remember correctly it had a Supercharged Ford V8.
Compare sizes of the lumps and I'm sure if your pockets are deep enough and/or have the skills, then it can be done
Mustang engine from what I recall. Keane Bell I think. Search for it on YouTube.Compare sizes of the lumps and I'm sure if your pockets are deep enough and/or have the skills, then it can be done

The old 4.6 SOHC is a bit of pig iron. You can often pick them up fairly cheap though for a new crate engine. But they are MASSIVE and heavy.

Didn't look and old one. I think it was around 6.0 and supercharged. If I remember it turned out around 600+ bhp. Found the link here:The old 4.6 SOHC is a bit of pig iron. You can often pick them up fairly cheap though for a new crate engine. But they are MASSIVE and heavy.

I already have an LS in my SS, fancy something different. The RV8 is already a 4.7.I guess the Chrysler Hemi engines could make a good swap, technically they are very capable, they are also compact and lightweight and proven to make good power. 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 litre variants. I am not worried so much about the power, My lotus is only 215bhp but I love driving that. I am more thinking about the usability and enjoyment factor. Also I have never had a supercharged car before so would be ticking one off the list.

After cam, heads and flywheel is done I want to go turbo... effortless and nice power delivery... and rv8 sound
I have had a couple of turbo's and used an Impreza for work (high speed persuit etc), really not a fan of turbo charged cars, currently have 2 x V8's, A W8, a flat six and a 4 pot turbo

I believe there is a difference in how a 2 liter turbo and a 4 liter turbo, both with 300 horses, will deliver its power...currently have 2 x V8's, A W8, a flat six and a 4 pot turbo
