My car has two totally different modes:
In mode 1, it drives beautifully, idles perfectly, awesome power, great sound
In mode 2, an hour later and still warm, it cannot hold any sort of idle whatsoever, dies straight after start up, six times in succession, dies at every junction, every roundabout, dies if I put my foot on the clutch at 70 mph, leaves me stranded at a a roundabout when it floods.
What's going on?....

Have you been running on green or white? I had a stalling issue, but only after a very brief tunnel blat, had to prod the throttle to keep her alive. . . so I let her stall, restarted her, and no problems since . . .
White. With lambdas in. As approved. I had the stalling issue since the decat, as has macca. Thought we had ironed it out. I did nearly 100 miles this afternoon in mode 1, a true mix of all driving styles fom urban to B road to A road to motorway. Then an hour later, no idle whatsoever.....for 30 milesQBee said:

What is mode 1 ? I would take it to a specialist ,get it on the rollers to see what it is doing ..Go and see Jools ,he is only in Chesterfield .
When I de catted mine it made no difference to the way it ran ,no problems at all ,can't see these problems being anything to do with the Y piece.

do you have a spare ignition module to try out? Sounds like mine before (guessing!) and swapping it out for a working one.
No, but my TVR guy will have one. Can anyone please tell me what it is that controls the idle, that stops the engine from dying and picks up the revs when they drop?

Fuel pressure regulator throwing the odd hissy fit?
Good thought, but no. I have had the problem (only) since decatting, and the fuel pressure regulator has been changed three times since then for a variety of reasons. Current one is a brand new Bosch 2.5 bar fitted by Mark Adams.Edited by QBee on Wednesday 26th June 07:24

It sounds to me to be an electrical issue check the ignition system thoroughly
I agree Richard, it is as if a switch is being thrown. It has only happened since decatting, and another person who decatted a 500 last week, Clive Y piece inserted, is having a similar issue, as I did initially, where the car dies on hot restart a couple of times, but is then fine again 400 yards later..Last night was totally different. It just would not hold any sort of idle at all at any speed, or stationary, in any situation for nearly an hour. I eventually got a very lumpy idle out of it, but only by sitting with my foot gently on the loud pedal for half a minute until t felt safe to let go, and the resulting idle was somewhat lumpy.
Anyone know what bit catches and holds the idle, so that I can change the right bit, please?

I have of course asked Mark for his thoughts, and will be trying the car with the stepper disconnected as soon as I have time.
Could it just be the Daz effect? Being within 5 miles of Daz could be enough to make any TVR play up?

Ironically, I spent the whole of yesterday going to/from Shrewsbury and on the rollers with Mark Adams at the controls, mapping the chip to the car. It was perfect leaving him, perfect for the next 100 miles, then as soon as it got to Nottingham and i parked for an hour, the misery started. This is part of the problem. It's intermittent.Go and see Jools ,he is only in Chesterfield .
