Just getting car ready for summer mot time checking everything over starts fine ect got to brake fluid and the tank in the wing just has a tiny bit sat in bottom, had a good look around at the calipers and joints on the flex hose and 4 on bulk head. Can't see anything wet, so I assume it must been the cylinder leaking where should I be looking and how to get access?

Check under the drivers carpet in the footwell could be a leak from the reservoir itself

When a master cylinder seals leak can it only leak from two places. the piston that butts up against the servo or where the tank fits. The other connections are for the 4 brake pips which in theory sould never work loose

The master cylinder seals have failed and your brake servo is full of brakefluid.

^^^^^ as Above. I had the same problem eariler this year and had a servo full of fluid! Pumped out fluid and replaced master cylinder all is well now. I lost all the fluid out of the reservoir but the warning light didn't work.
I removed the top off the cap and cleaned up the contacts that had rusted and the warning light works again. Might be worth a check!

Thank you for that useful info. Car has its cover on today, but doesn't always. I will have a furtle around and see what's what, before everyone is closed for the weekend.

Managed to find time to have ago, the first part of the resivoir under cap has lost fluid the other part is full. Managed to removed the resiviour after lots of cutting away silicon and swearing, removed two nuts and parted from servo, servo has a pocket with a white plastic cup which was full of brake fluid and rust, and paint all blistered down servo under neath. Did a check on servo an seems ok also when removing vac valve there was a gush of air so it should be ok and not leaking.

Problems -

Can't undo the brake lines from master there stuck fast. Want to drop via foot well and also re paint servo due to paint damage

There are a few guides on here on removing the pedal box / moving to one side to drop out the servo. I have a 99 car on the top end of the pedal box frame near steering wheel there looks like a motor is this the windscreen one as I don't have one under the bonnet. Can this be left on the pedal box or does it have to be removed ie is there enough play to move the pedal box without damaging ?
