Is it a simple job to fit an ACT cherry bomb exhaust ? I am assuming its just a case of unbolt the front joint and mounting plate on the existing one to remove , then simply bolt the ACT one back in its place.

I assume the mounting plate just fits back in place to hold it all together - is it that simple ?

I want to replace my fully sleeved standard system with the ACT but rather than all the hassle of using a specialist (none really close) my local do everything garage are happy to have a go. They do a lot of work for me on other cars and are very good so this shouldnt be a problem.

Just wanted to make sure there arent any 'gotchas' I need to worry about that would mean its better off being fitted by a TVR specialist.

A regular garage should be able to do this with their eyes shut, just make sure the exhaust rubbers are not overtightened/collapsed and tightened only sufficiently enough to work.

I had one fitted this week, it's easy job for any garage, just a bit fiddly getting the tail pipes to sit right. I bought a full set of new exhaust rubbers to ensure correct fit.

Best place to get the front exhaust clamp ? I looked on racing green and can see the Y piece clamps (manifold to Y piece) , is it just another one of those or something different ?

I also bought new manifold gaskets, obviously you'll not need them.

Thats really helpful thank you ! I am popping in to the garage next week to stick the Chim up on the ramps as I want to have a proper look at the chassis, while I am there they can have a look and confirm they are happy then I will get ordering :-)

Dude, if the exhaust is supplied from ACT, then the clamps are included. (I have one in the garage awaiting to be fitted). There are no gaskets needed.

The 'bobbins' rubbers, you can opt to replace these. Also while the tray holding the exhaust is off that may benefit from a clean up before putting back on.

The other link you have is for the rear hanger, I found one that included the metal part as well as they corrode.

Other points - the rear anti roll bar has to come off, so the options of cleaning it up/ bushed and drop links while it is off.

What gaskets? he only wants to slip on the system confused that ex clamp is 3" 75mm approx biggrin the anti roll bar don't need to come of but the chassis mounts that secure it do then you just let it hang.

I bought mine secondhand but it had all the bits needs. There is a little bracket/hook type thing near the back and Dan Taylor had a lot of fun getting that to work. He ended up changing it someway involving putting a new thread on the bracket. Not sure what I would have done if I had been on the drive on axle stands!
