Moved my battery
Discussion
Standard size battery from the footwell moved to the offside of the boot. I made a seat high enough to squeeze the battery alongside the tank.
50mm square cable runs via an isolator in the rear bhd around the offside wing across the top of the trans tunnel then down through a hole drilled just ahead and right of the gearstick then straight down to the starter. Glad i took such a direct route as i had just enough red cable to complete.
I have left the old cable in place. The battery is just held with a ratchet strap at the moment till i get round to sorting a proper clamp.

Nice job ! do you need an isolator ?. I decided not to bother because a decent one is bloody expensive ..You could run a accumate cable behind one of the seats for charging .I use it for the Tom Tom and charging ..I would hate to let the battery go flat .I do not have a clue how to get in the boot if it went flat .
Managed to get mine through the rubber grommet with some washing up liquid and brute force then insulated the live over the gear box with some of that silver heat sleeve. I would change the engine to chassis ground under the front drivers side wheel arch . ,mine fell to bits .

Guess what?
It didnt work
Another to the list of comical errors.
The dash lit up fine but the ebay so called high amp isolator couldnt handle the starter amps.
I have directly routed the live from the battery and all seems fine.
I will make up another earth and try the isolator (as suggested) on that side.

I havent bothered with the fleabay isolator.
All seemed well so i took the car out this morning to get the new tailpipes bedded in.
No knocks or rattles and they cleared the speed humps down my street no bother.
BUT.... i pulled over to take a phone call and guess what?
Yes bloody hotstart issue again. I had to pop the bonnet and wait for a good 20 minutes before it would start.

The hot start issue is well documented on here. It is often the Meta immobiliser failing. It can also relate to poor quality cables from battery to starter, or problems with the relays in the immobiliser.
Chimpongas has the full SP, so use search to find his posts on the subject
My immobiliser is bypassed. I have 50mm cables from the battery.Chimpongas has the full SP, so use search to find his posts on the subject
Ive already emailed Dave for further ideas. I am going to swap my starter motor and replace further wiring
