I thought that the Chim 500 was introduced after the T5 and only the Griff 500 existed with the LT77?

Very cheap...

Engine conversion. Lots of bits done to the car. As cheap as the one in Devon! Both are probably good cars

Net surfing the other day and I saw a 500 for sale, allegedly of '93 vintage. If they made them back then, which I'm doubting, it probably had the LT77.

To quote TVR Pages:

"In 1994 both the Chimaera and Griffith 500 switched to a Borg Warner T5 gearbox (the previous unit coming from a Rover SD1). Shortly after that the TVR Chimaera 500 was launched."

You can never discount special orders with TVR, factory tours & ability to spec the car build could create all sorts of odd combos?

Remember lots of TVRs were bought by owners with previous TVR 'history', and the to be expected bloody minded preferences / desires / demands....

Nothing wrong with the Lt77 box ,don`t know if its true but the gearing is much higher ,even more so fifth gear so that means lower rpm on cruise.
