I just did the same job on mine, got a cheaper bearing though hehe

Peter, what's this 1035 belt then? Is it as simple it sounds to ditch the pulley?

Yep, the 1035 relates to the length of the belt, the 7 in the code relates to the number of ribs the belt has.

I have a John Eales alternator bracket which neatons it further.

I have the alt, the water pump and crankshaft pullies only.

I'll put sme more pickies up later if you'd like.

Yes please Peter smile

I'm trying to figure out the route the belt would take without going past the aux pulley, this is the best I can come up with:

excuse the very poor arty skillshehe

What would be the reason for doing this? Just less parts to go wrong or are there other benefits of a short belt?

Less to go wrong, less friction and neater bay,

I have the JE bracket that brings the alt nearer the center.

Piocs later.

Sorry OP!

It having new manifolds made from schedual 40 SS which will be zercotec coated, new diff and Dave mac driveshafts are in, sleaved exhaust, little bit more work to do but it's coming together nicely, also having a bit of chassis bracing trickery done,
Then I'm going to finally get it tuned, not been able to before now as I've been plagued with exhaust leaks

Will this not spin the water pump the wrong way?

Thanks Peter thumbup

One more thing, sorry Derek, is the new alt. bracket needed or can I just buy a shorter belt and fit it?

Yes Gavgavgav, it would spin it the wrong way, obviously I knew that already, I was testing everybody else jester That's why I would never even loosen a nut or bolt without checking what I'm doing hehe

I believe it will only work with the JE bracket.

You can check on yours, take the belt off the idler and pull it tight on the other 3 pullies. See if there is enough coverage of the water pump pulley.
Mine covers about a 4" band on the WP pulley.

i have been running like this with the normal brackets and idler pulley for more years than i can remember - think it is a longer belt then 1035 but i will check later and let you know.
works perfectly

Yours will be longer as you use the tensioner.

The size is printed on the belt if it is still ledgible.
