Shortened belt, how and where?
Discussion
Thought I'd start another thread regarding the shortened belt and tensioner setup that a few folk on here use before we completely swamp Dereks thread.
My car is a '98 450 with no PAS or air-con. So I have a auxiliary pulley in place of the PAS pump and I have a tensioner pulley on opposite side.
From what I gather I will not need to buy the JE alternator bracket and tensioner - although, I do not need an excuse to spend money on new things
What size belt will I need for my car, phazed quoted a 1035 but doesn't seem to have a tensioner pulley and Sardonicus says 1850
Cheers

Hi Nick, if you purchase the JE alt bracket you wont need the tensioner or the idler and you can run like Phazed's picture .....Nice
once fitted you can run a bit of string round the pulleys with the sliding tensioner slacked off then you just ask for that measurement in mm i.e 1050 7PK
the 7PK bit just refers to the amount of ribs and the profile of the ribs on the belt
the 1850mm PK7 I was referring to is probably what you run currently on your stock drive system
