Hi guys, I've had this off for painting recently, and have pit it back on with the lipped edges facing up (like a tray) around the backbox.

Looking at some pics online, I've seen the tray with the lips pointing to the road, like an upside down tray, if you know what I mean?

Have I got line on the wrong way around!?

What's the point of this tray btw - just to protect the box?

The lipped edges point downwards or you won't have a flat edge against the chassis and will likely lose the bolts securing it.

Its purpose is to hold the rear end of the exhaust and maybe add a little strength to the chassis there.

The exhaust secures to the plate on some rubber 'bobbins' to stop vibrations into the chassis.
By tweaking the tightness of the bolts through these you can align the exhaust tail pipes correctly.

The tray acts as a crossmember to the chassis thereby aiding stiffness, it also supports the silencer. On my car the lips point downwards...just about discernible in the pic.
