I can't find the original oil senders sold in the classifieds. I can only assume that his stock is depleted. I've got one of the Ebay senders with the earth, but the readings are bit ad-hoc and I think the earth connection from the sender is the route of my flakey earth!

The one below self terminates through the block like the original. However, my Chim is a 97, white dials and aluminium surround. Were these white gauges made by Smiths? The gauge below will not work with Smith gauges apparently! ears

Yes Daz, later dash with white face Gauges and silver bezels. I got the sender from the first link, but the readings are off. Reads 60psi when running (just below when hot), but 45psi at idle. I also had the original TVR sender, which gave accurate readings, but it was genuinely faulty as it just stopped working.

I'd rather have one that earths through the block, so the second one looks like it should work. When are you putting it in?

I'm of the opinion that a sender with a separate earth is better as you can fit the sender with PTFE tape to ensure there are no leaks.

I fitted the aftermarket sender and get readings of just below 60psi when hot and when on the move and just over 40psi at tickover, of course I am not able to confirm if the readings are perfect, however, if there is any deviation in the oil pressure shown on the gauge, I will be able to tell instantly.

Think you will find they are the correct readings for a healthy engine ..The TVR sender reads far to low.

Cheers for that Daz, I'll leave it as is then and sort out the earth cable instead. Dave B knows his stuff.

Well this should sort out the earth on my sender to the chassis. Popped over to Marlec Marine in Ramsgate. 1.5m of crimped and terminated 25mm copper earth... a princely sum of £9.25.

Overkill, but I want to sort the problem once and for all and creat a good connection at both ends!

My original gauge reads 40 psi just after I drive off, dropping below 30 if stuck in traffic. Never seen 60. Have I got a problem? Oil is only 3000 miles old,is clean and just over the top mark.

i used one of the ebay senders in my griff, with the old smiths gauges, with my LS.

it reads what i expect the LS to read, 50 on idle, and upto 80 when pressing on...

SNAP... after spending 4 days having a 12k service and the diff bushes done by those lovely chaps at x-works, my little girl decided to remind me who was the one wearing the pants in our little love affair and decided to send my oil pressure gauge up to 90psi whilst cruising home on the motorway! I was not amused. I played it safe and bought the sender unit through TVR power - N0126. A total rip off for what they are I know but what the hell.
