Hi guys as per the title.

Coming off the motorway a few days ago, travelling quite quick up the sliproad and pressed the brake pedal.

yikes not much happening.

The brake pedal seemed to have the usual travel, did not feel spongy in any way, but i had to press like hell as the pedal felt really solid.

Drove steady for the rest of the way home, about 2 miles or so, and with only requiring gentle brake application the pedal felt totally normal.

Brakes acted/felt as they should.

Out and about locally in the car on saturday, and on a quiet empty road, i attempted an emergency stop.

The brake pedal was solid and took extreme pressure to work the brakes.

Would appreciate anybodys input or suggestions, but im thinking faulty brake servo.

Checked the master cylinder which was full.Checked all the calipers front and rear and no fluid loss anywhere.

Brake pads have little wear as only done about 3000 miles since i renewed.

Now i want to try a few things to eliminate the servo. So.............

Will the car start and idle if i remove the vaccum hose from the servo?

Should i remove the hose and block the end, or remove it from the plenum and block the outlet?

I would like to remove the vaccum hose and then see how the pedal feels, which will tell me if the servo is working or not.

Anybody on a chim or griff had the servo fail?

I have read the bible and its a pedal box out jobby.weeping

Once the pedal box is removed can the sevo be removed without disturbing the brake master cylinder and/or any brake lines.

Im tryin to avoid dropping all the brake fluid if possible.

why not bleed the brakes or do a fresh fluid change it sounds like either have air in the sytsem or the brake fluid has run its course

With engine off pump brake pedal until its hard. Keep pressure on pedal and then start engine. Pedal should sink a bit if servo is working.
