Just fitted the £15 oil pressure sender ,it sits at 80psi on idle ,I`m wondering if it`s ok to leave it at that .

Would it worn me if the pressure dropped .

A Universal 1/8" NPT oil pressure sensor, pressure range from 0 to 7 BAR (0 to 100 PSI), resistance for this sensor is 33 - 240 Ohms.

Thats great oil pressure, you should be able to happily rev the engine to 8000rpm now! Might make 400bhp if you get it on a RR... That sender must be the best bang for your buck we've seen for a long a time.

Normal senders must really take a lot of oiling to reduce the pressure so much!

80 psi yikes

Never nono

Mine still follows a decent external gauge, the sender you bought is definitely different.

Not to mention wrong, I recommend getting your oil pressure checked with a decent professional quality external gauge.

At least this way you'll know what genuine figures you have, & what you're looking for from a sender.

If you want to manipulate the output of your current sender so it follows your true pressures you could always get in touch with Spiyda Design.

I wonder if this amount of oil pressure helps spin the crank in any way increasing power output?

That knocks that one on the head! I'll stick with the one that Dave recommended. 60-65lbs when cold, 55lbs-ish when hot and running, 45lbs when idle and driving under 2000-2500 rpm. The only other ones are the original TVR types that used to be on the classifieds, although I think he's sold out now.

If you were getting standard readings on a standard sender, then you know that your current readings are incorrect.

Yes I`m getting standard readings but it leaks .

Could it fit a resister to offset a bit ..

Mine leaks too. The Spiyder thing that Chimp on Gas recommends will help you adjust the readings. I think a resister will only make it accurate at one reading.

Do you guys have modified pumps or pressure regulators- I think thats far too high for an RV8 (??)

Its the sender Mark. Mine read 30lbs idle and 60lbs cold on a standard TVR sender.

A bit rude there Daz...

33-240 ohms sounds a pretty standard sender ... the chances are more likely that your sender is sending incorrectly or that maybe you have a different series of gauges (for example mine are the early Black Rimmed ETB ones) which use different senders.

Cheers

Let me check, because I received a different one of Ebay and it didn't register at all when I put it in. I'll have a look later/ tomorrow and see that the resistance value of it is.

Oh, I assumed it was a bit of banter between you boys, however judging by your response that was not the case.
If I had thought it was anything other than fun I wouldn't have quoted them.
Sorry bout that.
