Great to be back in a TVR!
Discussion
After a 5 year gap I am back in a TVR (Chimaera 4.0) and a drive out last night in the evening sun with the roof down made me remember what I love about these cars...
The rumble of the engine, the aroma of leather/fibreglass/glue plus of course the pure driving experience make these cars that put a smile on your face.
Having had 3 TVR's before I know it is not always plain sailing - I suspect that my car may have the hot start issue although this only happened on collection when it was 30+ degrees and seller had picked me up from the train station, driven back to his house, signed the papers etc. and then as I shook hands and jumped into the drivers seat.... nothing! We ended up push starting it (very easily) and it has been fine since then starting every time.
Outriggers also needs some attention - a pre-purchase inspection showed no rot but surface rust and flaking coating so it will be rubbed down, treated and re-painted in the back end of the year. Only other slight irritation is squeaky suspension when driving slowly on bumpy surfaces or over speed humps.
What great cars though!

Owned Two TVR's before having life changing plans of leaving the UK with a backpack in Jan 2002 leaving in the garage a 92 J plate V8s.
By the end of that year still globetrotting, still loving it, I contacted my brother to find a buyer for my beloved V8s as I had no intentions of coming back in the near future.
Well after another year of floating around the globe I decided after 2yrs of living out of a bag to have timeout when I fell in love with a beautiful location.
Time sure passes quickly as 11 and a half years later I am back in the UK and needed some wheels.
What is it about TVR? Of all the 100's of types of cars on the market my first search was guess what?
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am back yet again in the seat of a TVR
Chimaera 400 this time, and one month of ownership I am back in love.
I have stopped for fuel top ups on four occasions, on all for occasions I have been stopped and talked to. I have been photographed in Warwick town centre by a young lady who rushed to take a picture. I have had neck breaks through Stratford Upon Avon, Marlow-Aylesbury when I was involved in a convoy of TVR's with old women waving, younger boys shouting TVR... the list goes on and on.
I have missed you TVR, but I am back and in love once more.... When visiting a few friends they noticed me back in a TVR, I got the usual snidey comments of "ya got breakdown cover" and other things that it's just not worth writing to bore you with. My answer to one of my friends was simply "What other car did you expect me to buy) Breakdown cover on my past 2 TVR's has never been required by the way.
I have spent more hours just looking at the car, from every angle it just has style. Start the engine and the smile just gets bigger, top down drive off at what ever speed surrounded by a beautiful cockpit, my life changing moments have started all over again.
OP.... I know exactly what you mean!
