Yeah Try your insurance..............I tried mine but they only cover GLASS.......seems like a bit of a ropey grey area but they were having none of it........they did say if it was 'attempted theft' that would be a differnt story.......it is amazing waht damage a stanley blade will do.... ;-)

Sounds like crap to me. It's windscreen cover you have, I bet that it doesn't specify glass in your policy details.
I claimed on my insurance for the rear window on mine when it blew out at speed, with no problem at all. The only slight hick-up was that since I was unable to use their recommended repairer then the excess would rise to £100. I enclosed a covering letter explaining why Autoglas were unable to fix the window, i.e. its a sewn in plastic one, and asked that they take this into consideration when reviewing the claim, well blow me, cheque eventually arrived and I only got charged £50 excess. Thank you Footman James, only a small token but a welcome one none the less.
If you claim for vandalism/attempted thefy this WILL have an effect on your renewal premium, unless you have PNCB.
