Does anyone know the dimensions of the standard y piece? ie the size of the v bands, the actual y pipe size and I know that the bottom bit of the y piece slides inside a 3 inch pipe but I dont know the exact size of it. Lots of you have probably got a spare y piece in the garage ready to swap on come mot time, if so would one of you very kind guys have a quick measure up for me please????

I have one sat in the garage I can measure but I'm not sure what measurements you want? If you can put up a picture pointing to which bits you want measured or be a bit more specific I can pop out and measure for you

If big Mike doesn't give you all the measurements you need, just reply on here and I will pop mine in the car boot - I am close to Saffron Walden on Thursday if that helps. If you are in Sarfend, clearly it won't!

i have trouble posting pictures on this forum, i dont know why, but hopefully you should be able to click this link and a picture will be displayed of a nice shiney stainless steel y piece with some lines drawn on it in different colours, i know this isnt the standard y piece but it should be enough to show which measurements i need. i'll do a key to go with the coloured lines too.

yellow line- the size of the v band clamp that clamps to the each side of the manifolds
red line- the diameter of the pipe, im pretty sure its bigger than 3 inch, so guess its either 3.5 or 4 inch then?
green line- guessing its 3 inch pipe diameter here but could do with confirming
blue line- again i believe its probably 3 inch diameter, however i this is where the rest of the exhaust slides over and i thought that was 3 inch so this one must be slightly smaller...

really its mainly the yellow line and blue line i need to know but i'll be grateful with any extra info/measurements you think could be useful.
i know its cheeky to ask but if you could give me the measurements in inches and mm it would be even better.
many thanks, let me know if the link doesnt work, rubbish pc........

I have the standard one in my garage as I said
And the Clive Ford Y piece on my car, as in the photo.

Mike is giving you the standard dimensions. Do you want the Clive Y dimensions too?

Clive Y piece, In inches and centimetres, as requested.

Blue diameter is 2 and 3/4 inches
Green ditto - cannot reach it, but it looks the same
Yellow outside diameter is a smidgen under 12 centimetres
Red circumference is 13 inches, so diameter is 13/pi inches, or just over 4 inches.

Sorry I didn't get chance yesterday evening but here's what I've measured
Yellow 110mm inner 117mm outer lip
Red 115mm
Green 70mm
Blue 70mm
These are all approx measurments holding the tape measure near.
If its any help I'd buy one of Clives, they are a work of art and sound great, plus there's a lot of work in them

A huge thanks to both of you for having a measure up for me, very much appreciated. Big mike if I was going to buy one then id definitely buy one of clives as yes they are amazing quality, he's an artist not a welder! However I'm not in it for huge power gains or stunning under bonnet shows (at the moment) what I am doing is really enjoying fabricating stuff using my new hobby welder, I like setting myself a project or challenge, something I have never done before or been trained to do. I like the moment when you stand back look at what you've accomplished, to me that's far more fun and far greater sense of achievement than buying something or paying for someone elses hard work. Plus you learn more and it becomes a more personal affair between you and that chunk of fibreglass sitting in your garage.
Maybe its just me!
The other week it was exhaust building from y piece back, this time its y piece construction.
Might dabble in a twin turbo setup, supercharged setup or maybe just individual throttle body setup...... sorry I rabbit on sometimes!
