Righto - I am a n00b.

But I was thinking about inter-coolers and general under bonnet cooling.

I know ~25KG is a fair old weight (20l water) , and 5 hourly water top ups at max burn could be an arse ache - but would something like http://www.mistcooling.com/portable-misting/portab... be useful as a pre-radiator temperature dropper ?

Systems like this are used controversially as pre-AC coolers the world around - but with properly filtered water... would it be a good inter cooler addition? For very little money. Or perhaps just a small version as a get out of jail card...

Or should we just have properly configured engines ?

"we" do..

Can't see a need/desire for anything like that, what is it you think that might help with?

Thought it would be useful for intercoolers in particular (seeing as under bonnet temps are so high) - but also perhaps other bits.

However - seems there are hundreds of kits already out there that do exactly this!

Apart from fitting the modwise two stage controller for the fans which keeps the engine temp more stable i havent done anything to the cooling system and it works fine.

what are you trying to fix?

^^That

I have a factory fitted one, it's quite a nice, neat install (as you'd expect really) and I have never had any overheating issues..

If you seriously want to decrease underbonet temperatures then I'd look at heat wrapping as a solution...but there's conflicting viewpoints on whether that helps overall. I certainl wrap all my chop exhausts, but TBH that's as much for looks as it is for any real desire to hike performance/increase cooling.
