Strange one this. Carla's working perfectly (as can be expected for a TiV) and then I set about doing a few tasks. Fix the PAS leak, book solenoid, top coolant level and then found out the fuel pipe was leaking so tightened that too. Now all of a sudden it won't idle geared less of hot or cold. Car starts then immediately dies. What the ***!

Anyone here got any ideas? I've cleaned the stepper and its still the same.

...oh, and the belt or a pulley is whining like a bugger now too (definitely not the PAS pump, that's just been replaced). Grrr!

Mine did that when the stepper was actually faulty. It became heat sensitive, so the engine wouldn't hold an idle when hot. Started and immediately died. Only showed up when i decatted the car.

One other thought is that somewhere in what you did you have managed to create an air leak beyond the AFM.

But the most likely thing, as you mentioned that you sorted something out on the fuel system, is that you have unwittingly created a blockage or airlock in the fuel system and nowt is getting through

Are you sure the whining is a pulley? No idle and whining sounds like an air leak to me. Check the hoses going to the plenum near where you've been working, you have possibly disturbed something. Also check the vac advance from the dizzy to the plenum. Ensure it is all plugged in. May also be worth ensuring you have over-tightened or crimped the fuel hose!
