I just be playing with a new acquired 14CUX lead and RoverGauge software and it's all easy enough to get set-up.

I've noticed that when off the throttle pedal the throttle pot reading is 6% and when the throttle pedal is pushed as far as it will go the reading is 91%. If I manually push the throttle butterfly open I get a reading of 94%.

I assume difference between the fully depressed pedal and hand open butterfly is about the stops being set to stop me breaking the throttle cable.

Would I be right in thinking I should have a reading of 100% when fully open?

Any views on the 6% reading when not on the throttle pedal?

I have the same reading as you. 7/93% so will be interested in any replies.

Had to slot mine to get to correct bottom reads and adjust throttle stop on the pedal to get full travel !!!!

Easy to do, ignition on not running lets you look at screen on lap top to adjust TP to correct bottom stop, chech after running, mine did not need any further adjustments.

Did notice smoother with adjustments after adjustments, but also cleaned up the butterfly in the throttle body at the same time, so may be a bit of everything.

A bit of messing you will get 0% on tick over
You may have to slot the holes to get it right be carefull they are lots of£££££££££££££ it will also tell the ecu the correct info that the throttle is shut

Extract from the Rovergauge instructions and with many thanks again to Colin and Dan Bourassa.

Throttle position

This has two values- absolute and corrected. For test purposes we want the corrected range to represent the percentage change the ECU sees between a fully closed and full open throttle position.
So a throttle position sensor that is within the correct range will show:

Throttle shut 0.085-0.545v 2% to 10%
Throttle fully open 4.2-4.9v 84% to 98%

The absolute value shows the effect of the voltage offset applied to the throttle pot in the throttle closed position. This is there so when the ECU does a sensor check it picks up this voltage to show the throttle pot is connected, (otherwise it throws a fault code) and it also allows the ECU to calibrate the expected throttle pot range automatically. The output voltages need to be in the above throttle shut range for the self calibration to work.

Typically a throttle pot that is adjusted correctly will go from 5% to 97% corrected range. It should not drop below 2% minimum or the ECU may throw a fault code saying the T.P. is out of range. The display bar should move slowly and smoothly as you operate the throttle, as if it jumps around, you have dead spots in the potentiometer travel, and the throttle pot should be replaced. The fixing holes in the throttle pot can be elongated with a file if the required range cannot be met, but is not normally required.

It seems the approximately 5 volt supply from the ECU to the throttle pot is not that well regulated, so if you get varible readings on the throttle pot test its worth putting a volt meter on the supply to see if its stable.
