... as I understand, I need two inch diameter and 20 inch in length to replace the stock muffler. Is that correct? I know I posted something similar earlier last month, but got no sizes!

I'm looking at replacing the silencer with two cherry bomb style silencers. They aren't the louvred type that decrease power and are basically a straight through design. Rather then have the whole length perforated, I was going to have them semi-perforated as I don't want to lose all those pops and bangs! I want to retain the volume and and angry sound, without the wet fart 'spatter' when driving at lower revs. I guess it is the same as having the semi-sleeved muffler. Looking at the cost of this, it is working out at less/ slightly less than having the box cut, semi-sleeved and re-welded. The seller offers the bombs with slits cut in them to allow them to be clamped or without slits for welding. I'm waiting for him to come back to me with a price for semi-perferated or staggered sleeving.

Are you planning on putting them inside the silencer box? If so measure it's length and allow some space for fitting. It's a long time since i fitted any but 18" long seems about right to fit back in the box

I was going to remove the box completely. Any problems doing this?

Thanks Daz

What is the total length I need these silencers, including the tails? Is it definitely 20" in total? The ones he offering are 16" packs with 2" tails on each end (overall 20"). Or do I need 20" packs with tails???

I want to make sure I get the right size. Is it best to clamp or weld them at the ends?

He's offering £115 including delivery for two silencers. The packs will be semi-sleeved/ perf, so should still be loud, but not suffer from so much flatulence.

I just need to be sure of the overall length... anyone??? Anybody get theirs on a ramp at them moment? earsearsears
