Never mix a bored day and prescription painkillers with eBay and a linked PayPal account...

I'm not sure exactly *WHY* I bought it, nor am I really sure where I was even thinking I could mount the remote filter head. I guess I can at least use it to tap a mount into for the temperature sender for the oil temperature gauge and it would be remiss not to use it to add an inline oil cooler at the same time I suppose?

Sooooo, the sandwich part bolts to the block and then you pipe it to the remote and screw a filter to it?

What are the other parts??

What dia are those barbs Phil? And you need 4 Dowty washers to seal em, you can fit a bigger oil filter with this set up too i.e a VAG Diesel engine filter(long fat bugger) so long as you have retained the same thread.

That bit screws on (in place of the oil filter) to hold the sandwich plate on.

What diameter are those hose tails? When I fitted a remote filter to my V6 S Series I read up that 5/8" (16mm) hoses should be used on engines over 2500cc, most kits are supplied with 1/2"

1/2" ... actually 13.5mm - I would have popped up a quick pic but it seems that Thumbsnap's uploader is borked at the moment.

Came with about 2m of SAE 100R6 1/2" hose and hose clamps too...

...and it came with those as well - just didn't want to put them on the hose fittings and risk damaging the seal before fitting it properly. biggrin

Don't really want to use "hand made" hoses though so might see what the local hydraulic hose guys would charge (plus I'd like the hoses on the remote filter head to have 90 degree bends in them so they come straight down the sides of the filter and take up less width) to make up some properly crimped hoses. biggrin

...and so long as I can find somewhere to mount the bloody remote filter head which is actually not as simple as it sounds as I need to re-site the expansion tank to the later location on the drivers side inner wing (so I can't fit it there) to allow me to fit the later radiator cowlings, the later bottom solid coolant hose and - most importantly - the "Tuscan" cooling fans (a pair of SPAL VA01-AP70/LL-36A's rather than the wimpy VA10-AP9/C-25A's that are on there at the moment). wink

I'm toying with adding an oil cooler and a little SPAL VA36-A100-46A fan (for the oil cooler as the times when everything really starts to bake are when it's sat in traffic and there's no airflow through the nosecone) as well . biggrin

Cool - nice bit of info to know ... I can easily ask them to make up a larger diameter hose. biggrin

TBH it's just another job added to the long list of jobs (finish re-siting battery - just need to buy battery, finish the new dash - just need the appropriate senders, fit the new coolant pipes, rad cowlings, fans and water pump, fit the Lupo lights - of which I have ended up with two pairs, fit the direct 12v feed / relay switching harness to the headlights, fit the new rear roof section, do my back brakes etc) that need to be done on the old girl.

In fact there's really just the one part that I need that will enable pretty much all of them to be done but I can't find one anywhere... frown

If anyone knows where I can find a Tuit then please can you let me know where and how much they are as I really need one ... I don't care what colour it is but it has to be the much rarer "round" version...

Hi Phil hope you are on the road to recovery and are well?
I think that you will have to join the already very long queue for a tuit, and round ones are rarer than rocking horse teeth or hens ste.

Usually the sandwich plates have a couple of extra holes tapped for pressure and temperature senders ... then they're supplied with plugs for the holes which you take out when you need to attach a sender.

I'll probably just ask Dave in the workshops at work to pop in a hole in the return feed from the filter side of the sandwich plate and get him to tap it to take a temperature sender ...

I put my temp sender in a special fitting that fitted inline in the hose after the sandwich plate.

Still don't know, "Tuit". I have been out of circulation and my brain's a little down smile
