Chaps is there a website where on chassis or reg input build spec can be checked,I've just bought an early chimaera and its showing 4280cc which is giving me a nice warm feeling at present don't think they made many!!

sounds like you have a 430, real nice engine if its been looked after.
when you get the log book get in touch with a guy on here called retrowheels, he has some of the build sheets for the early chims, he found the order/build sheet for mine. he is a very helpful guy.

Probably not a big valve ! now they are a good motor. Are the Griffith 430`s all big valve .

no, don't think all the griffs were big valve daz, who knows if its a big valve or not, plenty have been converted over the years & even if not a big valve they are a nice revvy engine. thumbup

Been in a 4.3 big valve ,it will pcensoreds all over a factory 5l.

A standard 430 will give a 500 a good run for it's money... smile

Yes its sounds like its a 430 there are few of us left and the only clue of it being a bigvalve is sometimes marker pen writing on the ECU. It may say BV in handwriting. I keep trying to figure out who has the oldest 430 on this forum I think mine is the 3rd oldest so far.

mine is 12/08/1993 I wasn't aware of 2 430 specs iirc all 430 were big valve I had a griff 430 bv had a bit of a chirpy exhaust note compared to a 500
will let you know as and when it lands!

No,engine numbers or vin numbers dont indicate. Taking the heads off does, but if it works dont mess.

be interesting to see where your car was sold new from, mine was tvr central. it was ordered with full leather, wilton carpet & a 4.5 engine conversion. mine has a 45 engine number although it has always been registered 4280cc on the logbook! whistle

Hi my engine no digits 4 and 5 are 43? Not sure if that means anything.

yep, that means 4.3! a 4.0 would be 40, 5.0 would be 50 & so on.

excellent thanks a lot will post up some pics once shes home its going to be a keeper this time,I get fed up restoring them getting them perfect then selling them on....then i think why did I do that!

Hi Just got back and own it now,its as I hoped a 430BV lovely condition,bit of paint on front wing needed and leading edge of bonnet,hood carpets and walnut pretty much mint ,under the bonnet needs a getting at as been stood for years,superb history file and all in all a rare find more garage than barn so am well happy thanks for your interest chaps.
