Finally i'm going to get some work done on the car, starting with the suspension which is terrible at the moment. Gaz shocks, needs full setup, shocks squeak etc.

I've been debating for ages and I'm just going to get new shocks, I won't start the debate as it's giving me a headache researching but I think I'll go with Nitrons.

My car doesn't have a rear ARB fitted. Looks like the mount snapped off and the last owner just removed it.

With me getting new shocks, polybush all round and steve heath drop links - is it worth getting a rear ARB?

i've read conflicting info but a lot points to leaving it off?
But i'm confused? any experience without it?

Ive snapped the SH droplinks a few times and currently run without the rear ARB.

To be honest i cant feel that much difference. It certainly doesnt make any difference at the dragstrip.
I have Nitrons with 3 way rears. I guess the low speed damping helps.

You might struggle to fit SH drop links if you dont have the anti roll bar fitted..... wink

FWIW I have Gaz Golds with standard spring rates (so nothing fancy) and I noticed a massive difference in handling when I had the SH drop links fitted. Huge improvement to cornering and general feel when pressing on.

I am only an average driver (not a PH god of the road) so anything that makes the car feel more stable is good !

Hi OP,

Think that the original batch of Griff's came without a rear ARB, IIRC?

I know there have been discussions about the effect on handling - but seem to recall that opinion was split 50/50 between track drivers as to whether they preferred it with/without.

Might be worth searching through the Griff forum to look for some older threads..?

HTH,

Dom

HA, i'm only fitting the front drop links smile

I read a lot of articles like this
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I didn't even notice until I took it to a garage and they said it was missing

now I've just got to decide on the shocks...... TBC

Mines been propping up the corner of the workshop since 2002... Vastly improved feel without upsetting cornering attitude in my experience. Only ever commented on at one MOT since...
