weird wires

whilst the dash was off looking for my immob fault I came across these 3 black wires in the loom behind the speedo just loose - they weren't that clean originallyI cut the ends off to test for volts of which there seem to be none.....and they look to have been like this for a while
any ideas???

I think you will find that they are earth wires, Test for continuity to another known earth to confirm, even if they are earths, tape the ends up.

I do love looking under that top dash panel ... always makes me think that it's the result of C3PO going out on a heavy nights drinking and barfing his guts up!
