I have been offered a new/refurbed rear drive line from a sierra including diff, drive shafts, cv joints and hubs.
I have read that Granada ones are used but does anyone know if the sierra ones are compatible?.
Many thanks
Jamie

From what I've picked up over the years weren't two different makes of diff used in Chimaera's ? Sierra unit was used in S Series but don't think ever went into the Griff/Chimaera?
All Griff/Chimaera were LSD, only a few Sierra/Granada were? Even if compatible there are ratio's to be considered?

Between Sierra and Granada two different diff's were used 7" and 7.5" and also two different flange (to CV joint) sizes 100 and 108mm I think?

Driveshafts were unequal lengths in Sierra (diff off-set) but equal lengths used by TVR (two long or two short?)

Is it a disc brake or drum brake setup, only "performance" end of Sierra range had discs?

If "price is right" might be worth having but a lot of it could be of no use ?

I believe it is a cosowrth set up and on discs. and comes with discs and calipers.
Does the chim use the 2 or 4wd versions or is that for the front brake set up?.
He only wants buttons for it but I did not want to spend money on something that I cant use any of. if I can use the brakes, hubs and only 1 driveshaft then it will be worth it.
Thanks for the help
Jamie

Haven't looked closely at the chim yet so no idea what is actually on there, but iirc from my ford days look for the tag numbers on the diff and if there isn't an 'A' in the middle letters then it hasn't got a lsd so isn't a cossie. Early granadas had slippers, the later ones didn't.

11AA AA 111 The bold letters need to have at least one A in there, the last 3 numbers are the ratio of the diff. I'm fairly certain that I'm thinking of cossies with that, loads of years ago though.

So if there is an "A" on the diff then it should be usable, I think they are a GKN diff which is what I have and reference the use of the drive shafts and cv joints are they smaller than the Granada ones?

Anything that I say would be guessing, this might give you some knowledge though.. Reading it suggests that my AA thing isn't 100% too biggrin
