The mcleod Rst is rated for upto 800 hp, and I'm now getting slippage in 5 th when the boost gets to about .8 of a bar,
I've yet to pull it apart but its not looking good,
Bugger furious

Just got off the phone to mcleod and they recon it not run in yet, and if I've had slippage it could need deglazing and possibly the flywheel resurfacing!
So I will give that a go and see if that cures it

Ill have to see next week when I get home but the flywheel is no problem once the clutch is out,
the advise mcleod gave me was that the clutch needs 1200 stop start cycles before its bedded in so if you've just fitted yours don't go giving it loads of boost for a while

At the risk of sounding like a tard, I sometimes wonder about the Bhp rating on clutches as so many cars have greater torque than Bhp. I'd have thought the biggest load on the clutch would be at low road speeds in higher gears where the torque (and greater load) is having greater effect than Bhp. Or am I talking tosh again wink

Afaik rpm has no effect on the clutch. It's just the torque (turning force that the clutch can take) that matters. So no, you're not talking tosh.

Horsepower is just torque multiplied by Rpm. I think they rate clutches by horsepower because it is such a common comparison between cars. Torque isn't mentioned as much.

A more accurate way of representing a cars power would be to take the integral of the torque curve </maths nerd>

You should of most defiantly resurfaced the flywheel before the new clutch

1200 clutch depresses wouldn't take long at all! You could do a few hundred in 1 traffic jam

Does that mean you have to face it off in a lathe whilst scowling menacingly?

If your hasn't started slipping you'll be ok, the way your power is delivered is more progressive than mine so I wouldn't worry just follow the bedding in proceedure

I was advised to deglaze using 120 grit paper if that doesn't work a pair of new friction plate might be on the cards, and there's always the RXT plates which are interchangeable and good for 1000 hp nuts
