Varying release bearings and spigot bushes??
Discussion
I installed a new clutch from JE some weeks ago, he also sent me RB and spigot bush but neither of those fit! My RB was bigger than the one he supplied... and mr Eales says they were the right sizes and that I have something strange!
I have a 97 400 with T5 box.
Any one know of different RBs and spigots being used??

Sure its the spigot and not the release bearing as there are 2 types of brg's one for flat fingered pressure plate and one for curly fingered and the wrong combination can create noise
just a thought
It only makes a noise when I'm reaching for reverse or 1st gear, ie when its syncing speeds. Not everytime I clutch and never when warm. Thats the spigot I'm pretty sure...

Can't help with the release bearing but the spigot bush on my 97/400/T5 is ID- 15mm OD-23.8 Length-18mm. I'm just about to replace mine....again as the one from TVR Power is squealing when 2/3rds depressed after just 2 years. Makes getting into gear from neutral impossible. You need a sintered bearing, ideally Olite Standard as they are vacuum impregnated with SAE30 oil. Standard bronze won't do as it won't absorb oil. 0.015-0.020mm clearance & smear the end of the input shaft with copper grease. If not Olite, soak the bush in SAE30 oil for at least 24 hours.
I'm also investigating using a needle bearing but can't find in the right size. Nearest is 15x21x18-20 which would need a packing shell made to fit. Must have 2 seals & pack with high melt grease, not copper.
