is driving me mad! Siren has been going off very occasionally until this weekend when it has been doing it 5 times a day! All the alarm functions work and when i've stopped the led next to radio flashes 4 times = supposed bonnet or boot release issue? Anyone have any ideas before i get lynched by neighbours

thanks to the chim wailing away at 1 in the morning? From past experience it's probably the siren, or at least the fly lead connection coming from the siren.
Get your hand in and take (unbolt) the siren out. Dry it out the best you can and the mating connector and re-tape with amalgamating tape. Make sure when you put it back it faces down in order to minimise water ingression.

I assume that the siren is sounding but the indicators don't flash (i.e. the alarm is not triggering, but it's squawking intermittently!).
Almost certainly a duff siren caused by water ingress. You could try letting it dry out and repositioning it pointing away from the direction of travel, otherwise it's remove and replace I'm areaid (the siren will sound as you disconnect due to the internal battery) - wrap it in blankets until it shuts up!
A new siren will cost around £80.

IIRC, the boot & bonnet pins are connected to the microwave alarm in a TVR. Hence if the alarm and hazards are flashing and the alarm is showing you that it was triggered, then maybe it was.
If the microwave is set too sensitive, even heavy rain can set it off (and boy was it heavy down south last weekend).

Sorry to revive a rather dull post, but...
After talking to someone more knowledgeable than me have worked out alarm, interior / door sensors fine, alarm goes off when genuinely thinks someone is opening boot / bonnet. I've locked it & yanked boot & bonnet- & bonnet sets it off. Therefore a bonnet sensor problem?
Before as last resort it goes in to be fixed anyone have any ideas on identifying the exact part on the bonnet release and how to fix / de-sensitise/ (break?)the b****rd thing?
Oh & well done if this hasn't sent you to sleep!
