Another alarm question
Discussion
Having seen the Meta Alarm thread, I though I would post my own alarm annoyances.
Is it considered fairly normal to have the alarm remote about an inch from the driver's door to get it to arm / disarm?
Also, how would I go about troubleshooting siren problems, as mine seems to have turned into one of those magical silent ones when the alarm is triggered. Is this a replacement? If so, is it TVR only, or is it available mail order online somewhere?

My alarm also has problems and after replacing the siren a few months ago the system went a bit crazy and subsequently requires a new control box, etc. I have recently found out that the important thing (££wise) is whether it is a Meta 1 or a Meta 2 system. Replacement of the older Meta 1 system is alot more expensive as it is integrated throughout the car.
As far as the remote issue goes, open up the fob, take the protective green plastic off (looks like an upside down PCB board, but not the actual PCB board) which allows you to slip the battery out for replacement. I can now shoot (with requisite nonchalance) from 10 yards away, which I admit makes me feel quite hard and allows me to fit in seamlessly at the local golf club/work car park...
