Hi all,

With a trickle charger can I extend the wires without effecting it's output/performance? The car will be parked at the end of my drive and I want to keep the main unit of the acumate in the house and extend the 'cigar' cable about 30 foot - is this sensible or very stupid?

Cheers

I guess some 'techie' out there will be able to say whether the drop will adversely affect the ability of the unit to keep the battery charged, all I can say is give it a go.
Alternatively, why not install a pukka external 240v outlet near the car (with a weather-proof box nearby to house the Accumate if you don't want to have a 240v cable inside your car), and simply plug the charger into it directly?

I was thinking about that, the only problem is to do it properly I have to get armoured cable and bury it a the correct depth - would be the best solution though.
