Just spoken to Kwik Fit (cough cough) and apparently the SO2s that are still in production are for Porsches only (different tread to the ones on our original SO2s) and the SO3 Pole Positions are their replacement but are more of a (and I quote the Bridgestone Tech department) "general tyre and not designed specifically for the TVRs". Looking through the forums it appears that most people are happy with the SO3s so unless I hear differently I'll go for a pair of those on the rear.

Does it matter if I've still got SO2s on the front though?

Ta,
J.

I can only comment on my own experience, and I have SO2s on the front and SO3s on the rear - have had for quite some time now without any problems.

I have heard that you should perhaps think about running the SO3s at a slightly lower pressure - something to do with the strength of the tyre walls? - but haven't noticed any difference myself!

Cheers,
Mike.

I'm running SO2's on the rear and SO3's on the front. Have dropped the SO3's by 2psi and everything is running fine and balanced.

SO2 and SO2pp are the same tread. The main difference is that SO2's are a harder compound. Not a problem on the rears, they're not available in 15's for the front. The SO2 is also missing the curb bead and are about 25mm wider than the same sized SO2pp. Being harder compound you will need to treat them with respect for the first 200 miles or so and the rear end will feel slippy during this time.
