My 4.0L V8/T5 clutch was replaced 2 years & 5k miles ago & a new bronze bush fitted, which was supposedly oil-soaked for 24 hours. Clutch kit sourced from TVR Power. This summer, when it was hot (remember??) the bush started to squeal when the clutch was part depressed, typical symptoms. As everything heated up, the squeal got worse & changing gear, especially down into 3rd, is a pain. This problem started when I was sitting at lights one hot day & it would not go into any gear. I had to stop the engine, select 2nd & restart. Not had this since but then the squeal started.

My questions are:
1. Is there any resolution that doesn't involve removing the gearbox & changing the bush (Stupid Q, I know, but....)
2. If I have to have a new bush fitted, what precautions can I take to stop it happening again (like sanding out the inner by 3-5 thou to allow for heat expansion)
3. Am I just unlucky that I got a duff bush (what can go wrong with a solid piece of phosphor bronze with no moving parts?)
4. Is there a needle bearing available instead (like the Cossie V6/T5 combo?)
5. Or can I get an RNA needle bearing to suit from, say, Simply bearings?

Thanks, Jonathan

guess you'll have to take a look at it.... make sure there is at least .15 / .20mm clearance in there.. and stick the bush in with bearing lock wink
