Hi all,

I've just taken delivery of some sc power wishbones and ast shocks. I'm struggling to see how the shock fits the front lower shock mount as it seems narrower than the rears and chassis mounts. It seems a fraction narrower than the standard shock bush that came fitted to the AST shocks, whereas I reckon I'll easily get them in the rear wishbones with the thrust washers. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a technique to fitting or is there an issue with the wishbone or shock bush? Don't realy want to take an angle grinder to the bush.

Not unusual to need some body English on the lugs; looks like the lugs are very slightly off square in those pics. Bet they would spring enough to accept the bush with a good big adjustable...

+ 1 looks like they have pulled when they have been welded

Ok so being steel I should be able to bend it out a tad without the metal or weld failing?

Short piece of suitable diameter studding/threaded bar with a couple of nuts and washers should prise those lugs apart without doing any/much damage scratchchin kinder too the surrounding has well wink

might be inclined to suggest supplier ensure these items supplied fit together without you having to modify.

its only a tweek, but you shouldnt really have to do that.

Hmm, I was surprised at how easy the lugs bend, and even with both out at an angle the bush will not go in as the base where the weld is is too narrow. Looks like I may have to trim the bushes. No reply from SC power yet and since I've painted one of the wishbones I doubt I'd get my money back anyway. Gutted!

Painted or not, if it doesn't fit send it back, I'm sure the supplier will change it if its been fabricated wrong, which it has

Before going too much further, just establish the installed width of the bushes on the damper is what it should be; not impossible the wrong bushes have been supplied (I still think the pics show a 'typically tight TVR fit')

Check the old bushes.

If they're narrower it's the bush, the same and the WB has been made wrong.

I have my Monos off at the moment, I can check the width of the bush if you like.

Yes that would be helpful thanks. I'll measure them this evening. I'll call racing green to make sure they haven't fitted the wrong ones as well.

I spoke to Racing Green and they confirmed that all shcok bushes are the same size for all TVRs, and they tried some ASTs in a wishbone whilst I was on the phone and it fitted fine. They did say that it was one from their old supplier (They get them from SC power now) so it may be a fault with my wishbones. I'm tempted to shave a bit off the bush as there seems to be plenty of meat on them.

What is the bush material?

When I bought my set of pre production Monos from Gaz, they sent them with some oversize bush ends that were alloy.

I reduced them to fit, (easy as alloy) although they did send the correct ones on request!

They look alloy to me, and Racing Green seemed to think it would be acceptable shaving them a bit. SC power say they'd be very suprised if the lugs are too narrow as they are made in a jig and separated by a standard sized block. They said the inside measurement should be 38.4mm so I will check after work.

My chassis lugs are about 37mm so dampers about a tad under.
