LPG Powered Chim on Ebay!

Anyone come across this before? Surely this is just plain stupid.

its not as silly as you might think modern sequential gas systems are really very goods and you would be hard pushed to notice the performance difference (gas convertor daytime job) also there is a bit of interest from tvr drivers as ive been asked for quotes to convert 2 in last month
cant find the car on ebay do you have a link?
did you notice the size and whereabouts of the gas tank?

Dont think its an LPG car, as one bidder asked if it does actually run on LPG and the reply was "no it runs on Super unleaded"????

I was thinking about conversion - but where does the tank go?

I was told that the rear end can readily shatter/shear in accidents and it's not a smart move to put so much conbustible fluid, unprotected, that close to your head.

With some conversions they fit a smaller fuel tank to make room for the LPG.

LPG is also 110RON. DOnt know if that can be used to any advantage though.

oh course its an advantage DUMBO. It means when people ask what it runs on you can say "It do Ron ron ron, it do ron ron 110"

Gas makes less power - about 4/5 is what I have heard from Dutch folk who us it.

the gas tank is a lot safer than the petrol tank just behind your head its made of 5mm thick steel with a pressure releif valve also should the tank somehow become ruptured in an accident gas will immediately vapourise and blow away unlike the relatively thin petrol tank where you can sit in a pool of petrol and its very volatile vapours for as long as it takes to get rescued also out of interest gas will only burn in a very exact mixture with air i believe from my dusty memory of lpg exams 15% lpg 85% air
5% more or less air and it wont burn
as far as performance loss the official figures are 5% loss at the flywheel however in reality if running on mainly lpg due to the increased octane level you can advance the timing without pinking and see a power increase!! however i dont see any sensible place to put an lpg tank and my chimaera runs on petrol! but my chevy and bmw are on gas

Not sure I'd be bidding on a car with an LPG conversion that didn't run on LPG

Ah yes, but that only works if the person you talking to is called Ron.
