Where's it coming from? Used my 99 Chimaera for work last week, all week. Car got caught out in the rain. Started fine, I drove off, first left hand bend about 1/3 of a cup of very cold water hit my right ankle. Next right hand bend, same on my left ankle. Accelerated hard......yes, you guessed, both ankles got doused with cold water.

Any thoughts where it is getting in? This has only started in the last couple of months.

Is the clutch cylinder cover and/or mastic round the brake master sealed properly Anthony, they are the usual culprits.

Oh, are they not supposed to do this then? I thought that it was a safety device to stop you driving whilst a bit drowsy on wet roads in the morning, it certainly wakes me up hehe

A, don't go looking for a hole. I resealed around the brake res' a couple of days ago, carefully removed most of the old gunge first with a stanley knife assisted by a small screwdriver. I used black CT1, bought from a Ridgeons builders merchant (no Sikaflex available). It's not the prettiest looking piece of work but I now have a dry drivers footwell smile Will bring stuff with me on Saturday if you wish, only takes half an hour or so to do and sets very quickly smile

If the cover doesn't fix it they have been known to let water in from the bottom of the windscreen too so check that the seal around the glass is fixed tight.

Thanks both Mark and Chilli. I do have a tube of Sikkaflex, if it hasn't gone hard, so will dig it out and bring it. And do some preliminary research this afternoon if the weather holds. Thanks guys, thank you everyone.

Qbee I reckon master cylinder res wink look very carefully where it meets the plastic res because it can look like its fine but when you flex the res top from side to side you will see it as breached and come away from the plastic nerd this is not helped by the fact that under heavy braking the res flexes away from the body and obviously over time the sealer/Silkaflex etc tears away from the res frown

Check bottom windscreen seal and the wiper wheel boxes where they come through. Resealed mine recently and now dry as a bone.

I've read on here that the washer pipe going through the body is another point where water can get in, worth checking.
