Trying to find another home for the power steering reservoir (currently in the dizzy gap) - does it absolutely need to be level with or above the pump and does the 'U' bend on the hose from the pot to the pump serve any function apart from giving a neater run into the port on the bottom of the pump? ie if the new location needed it, could a hose without a loop or 'U' be used?

The "u" bend serves no purpose, ideally the fluid level in the reservoir needs to be higher than the pump to keep it primed. I have seen systems with the reservoir lower than the pump but its not good practice. Any suggestion of a leak on the inlet hose and you would instantly have a very noisy, aerated system. Also what do you mean "currently in the dissy cap" I hope that's a typo?

Thanks for the reply and the info - the pot presently lives where the distributor used to be. I'm running an aftermarket wasted spark/coilpack set-up. I have something else that needs to live there 'though, hence the query.
