Just fitted a splitter to my Chim and the straight line stability at speed is transformed.

Whereas with no splitter the front was light and the bonnet wobbling at 100 (kph or course!) it now feels planted at 130.

Incredible difference for what looks like a waste of time piece of aluminium.

Totally recommended.

I bought mine from ACT rather than make my own or use guttering.

Still a cheap mod (well not really a mod as I think they originally came with a splitter).

+1 for the ACT splitter, I've had exactly the same results as Karl (OP), made all the difference to my front end. (ooer missus !)

Me too.....and they were originally on all cars, just got wiped off. Made mine out of a piece of stainless, cut to size by an engineering works. Faces forwards, not backwards, and is located at the back of the chin of the car. 900mm from side to side, about 75 mm wide to allow 37 mm for fixing it to the car

Cheap and easy fix.Go to B&Q, wickes, Homebase etc or carpet shop. Buy Lino Edge door bar . Its right length, right shape ,pre-drilled,not low enough to get ripped off on speed bumps etc... But it works ! smile

That's the way I've fitted it and the way other splitters work.

No, but if you look under the car, well back from the front (about a foot or so) you will find the screw holes from where yours has been ripped off. It's just in front of the front wheels - just.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly does the splitter do? and how come such a small (home repair) can alter handling so much. Thanks

Something to do with air deflection. On a Chim it stops ,or helps the corners of the bonnet lifting ,especially at 140mph biggrin . Not the most technical answer I know ,but they do work . Heres mine

That's on backwards! It should point down and forwards, though it does work facing backwards on a Cerbera i believe.

What it does is create a bit of a vacuum under the engine bay, thus pulling the car down onto the road, sucking more air through the engine compartment, and sucking the bonnet down onto its stops. The bonnet flapping starts at 60-70 mph on the passenger side, and can end with the bonnet coming open at 135mph, as happened to me on a track day.
