I have no garage so my Chimaera has to stay out side I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on covers I have been offer a TVR car cover but its not a breathable one for £150 whats peoples thought is it best to get a breathable one ?

The top half cover from Leven looks like a good option. Keeps the water away from the vulnerable areas but doesn't get too near the paintwork. I don't have one as my Tiv is generally cossetted, but if it wasn't and had to live in the elements thats the way I'd go.

I use the Classic Additions heavy duty waterproof car cover (www.classicadditions.com).

It's very well made, with a soft cotton lining and most importantly it's breathable (although obviously you shouldn't try putting it on a wet car, otherwise the paint may bubble). I'd also recommend getting the security kit, which consists of a steel 'rope' which padlocks under the car - a useful additional layer of protection...

Very happy with the investment, and while it's no substitute for a garage, it's a lot cheaper...

Hmmmm - for the cheap option I think I'd follow Shnozz to Argos!

For a really excellent quality cover, the Leven one is hard to beat. You pays yer money, etc ,etc....

i bought the expensive option from classic additions (around £120 including lock IIRC) a while ago and it was continually blowing off the car. It did the job ok and I sold it to someone when I planned on getting my garage rebuilt so I could use it properly.

As it happened, my situation changed and the garage was required for storing some other things for a while. In addition, I acquired the g/fs TVR in the driveway too, which later blew the head gasket and has been sat there since whilst awaiting various parts. As I knew it would sit there for months on end I bought the cover from argos and roped it down. Its as good as the one from classic additions IMHO. So I bought another one for my TVR. They seem almost purpose made for TVRs in terms of the fit.

none that I have noticed. I have read all this business about paint bubbling etc and no prob at all. I do make sure the S is bone dry before its put on the car though, as a precaution. The Chimaera comes out to play whenever its not raining anyway so its only undercover for a few days at a time.

Halfords do a waterproof, breathable cover for around £60 (Made by Dupont and has an American car on the box). I use mine on occasion when I need the garage for something else, and it's absolutely fine. I think it's the "small" size which fits.
