HC or not

How can you tell if your Chim is a HC or no HC ???.

Easy to tell...the "HC" is far, far superior in looks, feel and ride to the standard chimaera. Sort of a race version for the discerning driver

("HC" written next to chimaera "400" under the bonnet.)

yep, HC written on the engine. Drove both before buying mine and can honestly say I noticed no difference at all.

Unfortunately not many are. I think they may have been a limited edition ...sort of like the Ferrari Enzo.

Hmmmmm, I know this is a TVR forum and I do so love 'em. But given the choice Enzo or 400HC which would you rather have?

"HC" was an extra cost option. Can't remember how much it was.

Later cars were all "HC", and so they stopped badging them differently. I don't know when this happenned though.

Mine has the plenum badge, and on the "chassis check" paperwork I got from the factory it says its an HC, and (IIRC) that it was a cost option.

96/P Chim 4.0 HC

The 4HC was replaced by the 4.5 engine, as the figuers given by TVR Power are similar for the two engines, but the 4.5 is less stressed and so stays on tune longer.

All 5.0 were built to HC spec, the 4.5 was not. You should be able to notice a differance between 4HC and a straight 4. I could and I drove alot of them before buying mine.

PS According to the purchase recipt for my chim it cost £851.06 +VAT extra.
